Words We Don't Say

We talk about the weather
Looking out is easier than in sometimes
The sky is clear, or it’s cloudy
Or the rain is falling down
The grass is green, the leaves are turning
Or the snow is on the ground
Do they melt or just fall away, the words we don't say?

Do you think I’ve lost my way or lost my mind?
That I’m blind to what’s good and what’s true
And can that be so easily defined?
Well, if the answer is clear, I tend to doubt it
If there’s no room for any questions about it
I’ve never been much good at a fight
Where someone’s wrong, someone’s right
I just freeze up or fly away, come back another day

And talk about the weather
'Cause looking out is easier than in sometimes
The sky is clear, or it’s cloudy
Or the rain is falling down
The grass is green, the leaves are turning
Or the snow is on the ground
And we pack up and store away, take out some other day
The words we don't say
